One of my former pharma sales reps told me that he just came back from his national sales meeting at the end of January. This is a common time period when most pharmaceutical companies have large sales meetings to celebrate their achievements for the previous year, to announce new sales/marketing plans and to motivate their sales forces, including new representatives who may have been newly hired.
Therefore, for many pharmaceutical companies, any hiring for sales force expansions may have already taken place at the end of last year. Major hiring campaigns may not occur again for another few months until spring or summer. However, this would be a good time for you to do your research, make contacts and get properly prepared so that when many pharma companies start hiring again, you will be ready.
Getting totally prepared also means that you must find ways to stand out from the crowd of others who will also be going after available pharmaceutical sales jobs.
