For those of you who are trying to connect with drug reps in order to network with them during January, you may find that many will be away on their first national sales meetings of the year.
Most pharmaceutical companies will hold large meetings that present their new marketing and sales plans to their sales forces. As part of their efforts to motivate their sales forces, many of these meetings are held at high end resorts and could last an entire week or more. It is also at this time that drug reps who were high sales achievers from the previous year are formally recognized in front of top management and the entire sales force.
So don’t be discouraged if you have trouble getting hold of some of your local drug reps since they might be away at their national sales meetings during January and maybe even into early February.
In the meantime, I would suggest taking this time to brush up on your interviewing skills, modify your resume to make them more effective and learn more about the various networking methods such as those described in my book “How To Get A Dream Job In Pharmaceutical Sales – Direct Inside Advice and Guidance from a Sales Manager“.
