In one of the forums I visited, one guy was claiming that even though medical sales is more cutthroat than pharmaceutical sales, more money can be made. However, in order to choose careers, one must consider the customer base. In medical sales, more of the buyers are not physicians where in pharmaceutical sales, most of the customers will be doctors. So if you like working with doctors for various reasons, then pharmaceutical sales might be the more appropriate field to get into.

My brother and I were talking about cruise ship vacations since he just came back from one in Alaska. He asked me about the quality of Celebrity Cruises which is a relatively high end liner. I told him about the Mediterranean cruise I took some years ago as part of a pharmaceutical sales meeting. One of the perks of being in pharmaceutical sales is that the company meetings can be at some really great locations. Being on a cruise ship especially a high end one like Celebrity is certainly a nice perk. Always Ways To Network In Pharmaceutical Sales Industry

For all aspiring pharmaceutical sales representatives who think that active networking is just too hard, I came across yet another experience to prove that this isn’t so. The other day, I had coffee with a lady I met at a local Toronto Toastmasters club. It turns out that her sister is a pharmaceutical sales representative for Merck. If I was wanting to get into the pharmaceutical industry, this would have been an ideal way for me to connect with a potential contact. Experiences like this can occur all the time if you keep your eyes and ears open. Even if you keep networking with non-pharmaceutical industry people on a social basis, pretty soon, one will know somebody who does work in the industry. And then it’s up to you to pursue that.
