Pharmaceutical Success Interview Book
Thursday, June 28th, 2007Prepare For Pharmaceutical Sales Interviews In Advance
Tuesday, June 26th, 2007One post I read was from an individual who was complaining about the lack of time to prepare for pharmaceutical sales interviews. Unfortunately, interviews are a way for sales managers to predict what a candidate would be like in a real sales call, especially if it is high pressured. You often don’t get another chance with a company if you mess up the first interview. Therefore, it is very important to prepare for any interviews for pharmaceutical sales positions way before one even starts applying for jobs. One should be fully prepared and ready to go to any personal interviews once resumes are released. To help you prepare for personal interviews in advance, see Pharmaceutical Sales Interviews Information.
Unadvertised Pharmaceutical Sales Jobs
Tuesday, June 19th, 2007Okay, everybody heard of the 80:20 rule? Well, this rule also applies in the pharmaceutical sales job market. That is, 80% of the available jobs for pharmceutical sales reps are in the hidden market and unadvertised. The advertised job postings that you sometimes see in the newspapers and online represent only 20% of the job market in pharmaceutical sales. So if you are applying only to advertised positions, then you are really missing the boat on opportunities.
See the article Unadvertised Pharmaceutical Sales Jobs for more details.
Pharmaceutical Sales Representative Sample Resumes
Friday, June 15th, 2007When submitting your pharmaceutical sales representative sample resumes to Clint Cora for his custom evaluation (as part of the bonuses offered with either his pharmaceutical sales ebook or audio book), it is best to send in your Word version rather than a .pdf file. With a Word version, Clint can add in his comments, usually in red text, right in your document for easy reference. He will then send you that revised Word file with your sample resume along with his comments.
Another Physician Went After Medical Representative Sales Jobs
Thursday, June 14th, 2007I just realized another example of a physician who decided to go after medical representative sales jobs. This one is actually a vet who specializes in domestic farm animals such as pigs and cattle. But after she soon realized that it was very involved to set up a rural clinic for this type of specialty, she pursued other career options but still staying within her vet medical field. This prompted her to become a medical sales representative. Since her communications skills were quite good, she was able to get a job with the vet products division of Pfizer which promotes to vets who specialize in farm animals.
Of course, she had to position herself as someone who was capable of doing a medical sales job. For more information on how you can also get a similar career, see Medical Representative Sales Jobs.

Pharmaceutical Sucess and Interview Book
Tuesday, June 12th, 2007Clint Cora’s pharmaceutical sucess and interview book is interesting in a way that instead of teaching to memorize answers to specific questions, it teaches strategies on how to handle different types of lines of questioning by interviewers. So instead of being caught off guard by a question that you did not memorize the canned answer to, you can formulate good answers that reinforce your skills if you learn the strategies presented in the book. For more details on what is taught in this book for your pharmaceutical success, see “How To Get A Dream Job In Pharmaceutical Sales – Direct Inside Advice and Guidance from a Sales Manager“.
Medical Sales Postions For Physicians
Monday, June 11th, 2007Just continuing on the last post, it is very important for physicians who are seeking medical sales positions to start presenting themselves as sales material rather than doctors. Yes, the medical knowledge is a bonus but companies train reps on whatever medical knowledge is required to do the job anyway. So it’s not a giant advantage.
It is more important to start acting, talking and writing on paper about sales and business rather than clinical topics. Start talking about sales, selling techniques, marketing strategies and even market shares of drugs. Convince resume reviewers and interviewers that in addition to being a doctor, you also have a business mind if you want to go for any medical sales postions.
To help you, see Medical Sales Positions Information.
Can Doctors Become Pharmaceutical Sales Reps?
Monday, June 11th, 2007Can doctors become pharmaceutical sales reps? Absolutely! It has been done before. I have one fellow I’m helping with in getting his resume right and he is a present case of a physician who wants to be a sales rep. In these cases, it is very easy for doctors to position themselves on paper and in person as being too clinical rather than sales oriented. Many reviewers will still get the impression that these types of candidates are better off in a medical type of job rather than in sales. So the key here is to get more sales oriented and position yourself like a potential sales rep rather than a doctor.

Medical Representative Sales Jobs At Any Age
Friday, June 8th, 2007It is a myth that all companies hire only young individuals for medical representative sales jobs. True that there are some firms that prefer to hire younger people because of lower starting salaries, the perception that they can be more easily trained and other factors, but there are also other companies that prefer to hire older, more mature folks. Some companies hire any age as long as the candidates have high selling potential and can be trainable. Read the article Start Medical Representative Sales Jobs At Any Age.
